Us ‘en plein air’ painters just love finding these old barns with so much character, showing their fine old redwood and cedar timbers and planks. Me, I love finding how the grasses and the landscape grow together with the barns and fences, and how the hills and trees define the spaces.

So many lives and tasks have been ‘at play’ at Borges. Do you remember rolling down hills as a kid? Have you ever tossed a hail bale down for the horses? Milked cow and churned butter? Here in California, in these urban centers, we are so fortunate to have some of these old barns kept up so our kids and future generations have the chance to picture what life was like just ‘yesterday’ at Borges Ranch.
