Nancy is a professional artist, educator, arts community volunteer and retired architect based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She exhibits her work in several galleries, participates in regional shows and plein air events, organizes paint-outs for the Contra Costa Plein Air group, presents demonstrations for art associations and teaches painting workshops. Her work has garnered many awards and is included in public and private collections across the country.
Artist's Statement
Let’s face it, I love to paint! There’s just something about grabbing that brush, squeezing out a fresh batch of color, setting up a fabulously blank canvas and diving in. Lucky me, I don’t feel compelled to replicate reality so the sky’s the limit. It’s fascinating to think about what’s happening beneath the surface of things, their underlying structure, rhythms, and hidden energies. When I take a deep breath, tune in and really listen I start to hear nature’s sweet song. What a joy to sing along!
