Nicole Collins, local ceramicist.
I love the organic textural aspect of clay and the infinite variations of glazes and surface decorations.
I was born in Milan in Northern Italy and grew up in Paris, but have made my home in Orinda for the last 35 years.
I am inspired by the natural beauty of the Bay Area, the colors of the vegetation and the birds who share our lives.
Artist's Statement
As soon as I started making pottery, I was instantly hooked. I have taken many classes through the Walnut Creek Center for Community Arts as well as online classes that have helped me develop my style.
When I opened my own studio, I was able to explore new forms and techniques. I love combining thrown and slab-built pieces, exploring glaze combinations, and painting on my pots. Most of my work is functional tableware and garden accessories.
You can find my work at Orinda Books, at the Clay Arts Guild of Walnut Creek’s sales, as well as at the Center for Community Arts’ December Holiday Sale.
