Although I always loved art and spent many happy hours at the Art Institute in Chicago while growing up, I didn't take art classes until a late age. I started with watercolor, becoming a signature member of California Watercolor Association. I moved on to acrylics and mixed media, finally discovering plein air oil painting with which I have remained. I studied with many fine painters and was a member of Benicia Plein Air Gallery. I show and sell my work in Rossmoor as well as LAA.

Artist's Statement

When I am out there painting, I look for what is different or special about each scene. I try to give the viewer a sense of that.
Sometimes it is the simple beauty of a field of sheep grazing on the verdant spring mustard. Sometimes it is the special early morning pink sunlight over the water, San Francisco Bay from afar with fog rolling in, or golden hills with oak trees in the heat of late summer.
Whenever you look at pleinair paintings, remember the artists have brought you along to where they stood and you are seeing what they saw.
