Vickie grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and graduated from San Francisco State School of Nursing. Vickie has been passionate about creating art all of her life. But in young adulthood as a nurse, and later as a stay at home mom raising her 3 boys, she found less and less time for creative endeavors. As her kids grew, Vickie found herself painting along with them. Her love for artistic expression was rekindled and she began taking ceramics, oil, watercolor, and pastel painting classes whenever she could. Vickie has been painting for over 20+ years now and has many sources of inspiration, especially the beauty she sees in nature, people, and places everyday. Vickie loves to try new things in her artworks and in life. Her work reflects what Vickie is grateful for and feels blessed to be able to do what she loves. She has recently returned to the San Francisco Bay Area and is thankful to be back home.
Vickie’s other passion is to teach and encourage, both adults and children, to be creative artists. Vickie taught art at American Martyrs School in Manhattan Beach, CA to middle schoolers for 4 years. She teaches small group and private art lessons for both children and adults. Vickie has also created multiple art lessons that have been taught in schools throughout Los Angeles. Vickie has been involved as an artist in many organizations throughout her career. She is a charter and active member of the Pastel Society of Southern California and was a Studio Artist at Destination: Art in Torrance CA for over 10 years. Vickie is currently a member of Lamorinda Arts Alliance, Las Juntas~East Bay Artist Guild, Concord Art Association, and Contra Costa Plein Air Painters.
