Carla W. Gelbaum
Contemporary Fine Art
My paintings depict what is sacred to me – my family, nature, the cosmos and the pursuit of peace, both within and without. Encompassing my recollections and dreams, they are an expression of my imagination using vivid colors and exaggerated forms, often without concern for perspective and the conventions of gravity. Each one is a diary that uses harmonious rhythms of lines, colors and shapes to create a visual sonata about life.
Carla was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, and received a B.F.A in Design and a M.F.A. with distinction in Printmaking, at the California College of Arts & Crafts (now the California College of the Arts).
Her contemporary paintings, drawings and monotype prints are exhibited in galleries in the San Francisco Bay Area and in numerous private collections. They can be found in permanent exhibits such as at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, and Kaiser Permanente in San Ramon, California. Her artwork is included in the Walnut Creek Utility Box Art Project and Bedford Gallery’s ongoing Public Art Walking Tours.
