Jane Yuen Corich
Born in Boston Massachusetts Jane started painting in 1980’s while I was a fashion design student in NYC. On an extended trip to Banon in the South of France she purchased her first set of oil paints and brushes. During her stay she created numerous canvases and was invited to show her works in a local church. This was the start of her love of painting. Returning to the states she had shows in independent NYC and Washington DC galleries before moving to California to do shoe design.
In California she began etching and fine art quilting as a means of expression and getting back to "thinking like an artist". This sparked her interest into oil painting again. Drawn to the beauty and luminosity of classical oil paintings found in the museums of NYC as a student she pursued classes in oil painting in the classical style. Completing a series of still life’s based paintings in a classical style using personal subject matter she has exhibited these quilts and paintings throughout in the Bay Area.
Since 2000 she worked in Acrylic mixed mediums in an abstract style, a style she feels very comfortable with and finds challenging at the same time. Acrylic medium and abstract composition together is a form of freedom which has you questioning your every move and can be thoroughly engaging. When she is not painting, you can find her working as a costume designer in the East Bay theater community or sketching shoes as a freelance shoe designer. She resides in Walnut Creek, Ca.
Her quilts and paintings has been purchased and commissioned by private collectors throughout the country. She has shown her work in a number of local and international juried art shows.

I have been painting since 1985. I use personal photos and found images as jumping off points for many of my paintings. Since 2010 I have been joyfully entrenched in the world of acrylic mixed media in conjunction with pastels, pencils, ink, and cut paper, and photographic images I present to you my world of interesting textures and vibrant colors. I am inspired as I watch each painting I am working with change and evolve through the interaction of mediums and visual cues. I love bringing together all the nuances each of the different elements to create a complete visual world on the canvas. No detail is too small and no idea to big.
My approach to keeping my work fresh is to continually experiment. Each painting contains a new problem to solve and visual story to tell. Enjoy the work.
